What are they?
They are, essentially, metal posts that are inserted surgically into your jawbone. Once the dental implant has been placed, our dentists can add the prosthetic tooth to finish the restoration.
How do they work?
Through a process known as osseointegration, the bone from your jaw can actually fuse to the post. This could be one reason why dental implants may be a sturdier restoration option than some others, like dentures. It may even be as strong as the original tooth.
After the fusion has taken place, our dentists can attach the crown that was specifically made for your smile. It was created with the shape, size and color of your teeth in mind so that it could blend in with the neighboring teeth, and once it has been added, your restoration may be completed.
