Have you recently lost a tooth? Does it make you less confident in your smile? If you would like to have a full smile again, we may be able to help. Although there are different restoration options you could choose, we’d like to highlight dental implants and how they can improve your dental health.
What are they?
They are, essentially, metal posts that are inserted surgically into your jawbone. Once the dental implant has been placed, our dentists can add the prosthetic tooth to finish the restoration.
How do they work?
Through a process known as osseointegration, the bone from your jaw can actually fuse to the post. This could be one reason why dental implants may be a sturdier restoration option than some others, like dentures. It may even be as strong as the original tooth.
After the fusion has taken place, our dentists can attach the crown that was specifically made for your smile. It was created with the shape, size and color of your teeth in mind so that it could blend in with the neighboring teeth, and once it has been added, your restoration may be completed.
To help ensure your dental implant’s success, you should care for it just like you would a regular tooth by visiting Louisiana Dental Center in LaPlace, Louisiana, at least twice a year for regular checkups and cleanings. To do this, you can call us at (985) 652-8767 to plan your next visit.
